The Life Cycle of [ ____ ] is an American documentary series created by David Wynn.

season 1
The Life Cycle of < FOOD >

Each episode in season 1 explores the evolution and immigration of culture into America through food.

America being a country born out of immigration, every cuisine is rooted with inspirations from another country that has evolved into what it is today.

Each episode follows the format of exploring modern chefs, entrepreneurs & artisans in Los Angeles inspired by a particular country.

David Wynn

David Wynn is a writer/film-maker & owner of Kensho wine/sake bar in Hollywood

David started making films as a young snowboarder/skateboarder. After college, he began making short documentaries on artists & musicians in Los Angeles and moved into producing culinary events and filming behind the scenes creative processes. 

His first social impact short documentary ‘Change’ was screened at the New Urbanism Film Festival where he was invited as guest speaker to discuss the power of art & creativity in Los Angeles being an agent to fostering community. 

With a family background in hospitality & working extensively in event production, design & marketing, David’s life now consists of directing the dual vision of operating restaurants while producing documentaries surrounding entrepreneurs, artists, designers and philanthropists who are defining the new creative identity of America. 

David started writing collaboratively with his younger brother and is in development of a sci-fi trilogy entitled, “Lucid City”

CINEMATOGRAPHER
Nathan Wilson

Nathan Wilson has spent the last twenty-five years as a Cinematographer and a Director making feature films, commercials and documentaries on every continent. Nathan spent his formative years splitting his time between Northern New Mexico and Los Angeles, California. He started working in the film industry at age 18. He studied painting and color theory at the Accademia di Belli Arti in Venice, Italy.

Nathan’s work can be seen in Episodes of David Fincher’s Mindhunter, Taylor Sheridan’s Yellowstone, and Nicolas Refn Winding’s Too old to Die Young.
This year Nathan is pursuing his twin passions of boxing and cuisine by doing short documentaries about boxers, chefs, sommeliers and craftsmen in Los Angeles.

PRODUCER
Brendan Carlson

Brendan Carlson has worked with an array of clients including independent producers, directors, colorist and Senior DI Producers for the last 8 years both within film and video production as a Production Manager for major studios such as 21st Century Fox, Warner Bros., MGM, and Paramount as well as the main Netflix, Hulu, and Amazon Prime and as a Post Production Supervisor for a number of vendors and production companies. He works in close collaboration with talented, hardworking, and earnest individuals, throughout the occasionally laborious process of creating and completing productions whether it be the creation of a music video for free or working on a large scale IMAX feature film.

Brendan is proficient in Final Cut Pro 7, Final Cut Pro X, SoundTrack Pro, Compressor, Aja Video Systems, DiVinci Resolve, Adobe Creative Suite; Premiere, After Effects, and PhotoShop, as well as linear film editing; 16mm, 35mm and 70mm.
